What we check
- Emoji used as icons in nav, headings, buttons and lists
- Font signature: serif “tasteful default” display faces (a strong 2026 tell) vs. generic sans (a weak one)
- Untouched shadcn default cards
- AI-purple / indigo / violet as the primary color
- Gradient-clipped hero text and purple-to-blue gradients
- Max-radius (rounded-2xl/3xl/full) applied everywhere
- Cream page backgrounds (the “tasteful default” house style)
We read the page’s static HTML (class names, inline styles, font links, and text). Computed-color and animation tells need a rendered browser and aren’t covered here.

- Is generic sans (Inter / Geist / Roboto) an AI tell?
- Only weakly. Plenty of intentional, well-designed sites use Inter (SaaSalyst does). We flag it as informational, never as a strong signal. The serif “tasteful default” display look is the much stronger 2026 tell.
- Do you store the page or my URL?
- No. The check is stateless. We fetch the page, analyze it in memory, and return the result. We record an anonymous, hashed-domain usage signal only; we never log the raw URL.
